Homecare physical therapy practice in the Philippines has proven to be a valuable option for individuals seeking personalized rehabilitation services within the comfort of their own homes. It also serves as an excellent opportunity for physical therapists to earn extra aside from their regular salary or earn more than those earning from a steady paycheck. As physical therapists, staying informed or aware of the prevailing rates of homecare physical therapy in the Philippines is crucial for a variety of reasons. Understanding the costs associated with homecare services not only allows you to provide transparent pricing information to your clients but also helps you determine fair compensation for your expertise, time, and services.
Last year, I launched a curious project in trying to see the professional landscape of rates in homecare physical therapy in the Philippines. Its primary aim was to determine the current rates (ranges) physical therapists charge for their services and the factors that would impact their rates.
According to the survey, a typical homecare physical therapy evaluation visit lasts between 30 minutes to an hour and a regular treatment session lasts more than an hour. Homecare PT rates can range from PhP 501 to PhP 1000 depending on the geographical area. These rates are typically based on the physical therapists' location of practice, perceived appropriateness, and knowledge and training. The top factors that were found to impact these rates were distance/time or travel expenses, the complexity of the plan of care, and the number of body areas to be treated. Other factors were the patient's or family's ability to pay, the relationship with the patient, and the simplicity of the case.
